Archives of Operative Medicine (AOM) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. The journal follows the core practices and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

All parties involved in the publication process—including authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers—are expected to adhere to the principles of ethical conduct, transparency, and academic honesty.

Duties of Authors

Authors must ensure that:

  • All submitted work is original, accurate, and free from plagiarism or data fabrication.
  • All co-authors have significantly contributed to the research and agree with the final version.
  • Any conflicts of interest and funding sources are clearly disclosed.
  • Proper ethical approvals are obtained for studies involving human participants or animals.
  • They follow relevant reporting guidelines (e.g., CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA) as recommended by the EQUATOR Network.

Submissions found to violate ethical principles may be rejected or retracted.

Duties of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring fair, unbiased, and timely peer review.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
  • Acting on suspected ethical misconduct, including plagiarism, authorship disputes, or data falsification.
  • Making editorial decisions based on scholarly merit and ethical standards, without influence from commercial or institutional interests.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of manuscript content.
  • Disclose any conflicts of interest that may influence their review.
  • Report concerns about possible ethical violations to the editors.

Misconduct Handling

AOM takes all allegations of misconduct seriously. In cases of suspected plagiarism, duplicate submission, authorship manipulation, or data fabrication, the editorial board will investigate in accordance with COPE flowcharts and procedures. Sanctions may include manuscript rejection, retraction, author notification, or reporting to institutional authorities.

Retraction Policy

The journal adheres to international standards for corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions. Retractions are issued in cases of confirmed academic misconduct or major errors that invalidate the findings. Retraction notices remain freely available and linked to the original article.

Research Ethics

All research involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki, and studies involving animals must conform to institutional or national guidelines for animal welfare. Ethical approval from a recognized review board and informed consent from participants must be documented when applicable.
